LIETUVOS ŠAŠKIŲ FEDERACIJA
LITHUANIAN DRAUGHTS FEDERATION
.Open letter for Executive Vice President of FMJD Harry Otten
Dear Vice President,
In a relation to the cancelled World championship in Brasil ,our participants from Lithuania Edvard Bužinskij and Aleksej Domčev have a fair amount of financial loss as they had already bought tickets to World Championship in Brasil through the internet. All the loss contains 1350 euro. I hope you understand that the heads of FMJD are as the same guilty as the organizators from Brasil. I would like you to write me in the concrete who, when and how the financial loss will be covered for our and other participants.
What is more, it is not important whether Brasilian organizations or FMJD will take responsability for participats who now have unused tickets, documents, copies and would like to get some compensation for this expenditure. It is a pity that this issue was not widely discussed in your Press Release.
We hope to hear from you soon.
Yours sincerely,
Romualda Šidlauskienė, Vice-President of Lithuanian Draughts Federation.
ATSAKYMAS
Dear Romualda Šidlauskiene
First of all you should follow up advise given in other mails to retrieve as much as possible from the ticket as possible. You should be able to get back taxes and surcharges, maybe even part of the ticket. We are trying to get the WC organized on short term somewhere else but of course don’t know yet whether we will succeed. Before Lélio’s organization failed, there was a lot of praise from countries in the east for him. I don’t know whether you belong to them. It appeared to me he had many votes secured already for his presidency.
Now you need to find scapegoats in FMJD. Very strange that nobody holds the President responsible. Why? The basic fact, however, is that countries pay such little amounts to FMJD that it is impossible for FMJD officials to make frequent travels to an organizing country such as Brazil. I told already in Hyken that it is absolutely necessary to raise contributions in order to come to a more professional organization in the future. It has been the choice of the federations to pay such little amounts that the board members from FMJD not only put in a lot of time but also a lot of their own money. It is very unfortunate that some people lose money and of course we will try to compensate where possible. How remains to be seen. It is clear that FMJD has no money itself.
We will also try to organize a General Assembly as soon as possible. There are important choices to be made there. I still may be candidate for presidency. If so, it is completely up to you and the other federations to put trust in the future and my plans for it or look back in anger for something we in all honesty could not prevent and of which you were part of yourself as well.
Best regards from the Netherlands,
Harry Otten
